– Labour market integration support for immigrant men
Vieraasta Veljeksi helps immigrant men in finding employment and integrating into Finnish Society. Mentoring, personal volunteer support and discussion groups are the main forms of activity.
1) Mentors are voluntary Finnish-speaking men who help immigrants in finding job opportunities and getting accustomed to Finnish culture and labour market. This offers the mentor an opportunity to learn something new as well.
Vieraasta Veljeksi aims to find immigrants and Finnish-speaking volunteers with professional training. Let us know if you are interested in participating either as a mentor or as an immigrant.
2) Personal volunteer support brings Finnish volunteers and immigrant men together. Immigrants who are interested in Finnish contacts and friends in general or who feel that they need support in integration or language skills are paired with Finnish men who are interested in meeting foreign-born people and sharing their information about local customs and culture.
3) Discussion Groups are meant for immigrants and Finnish-speaking men interested in sharing experiences about Finnish culture and work. The aim is to help two-way integration and to improve and support the Finnish language skills of immigrant participants.
Themes of the hosted discussions will be focused on the general topics of the project at first. Later they can be directed towards the interests of the participants. Discussion group has weekly meetings at Miessakit on Wednesdays (Time: 17.00-18.30)
